In this new part, we dig into a concrete example to see why this transform is useful both to understand the qualitative dynamics of a system and to find a final analytic solution.


Thank you. Always a pleasure and always stretches me a little. This brings back some memories of studying this at university where I also learned about Fourier series. I can see something similar happening with the rotating vectors drawing out the real world motion.
Then I went off to do structural engineering and was introduced to response spectra (after being reminded of eigenvectors etc). A little bit different but has some similar vibes.
